Well, we absolutely had a blast camping this weekend! Can you believe that such an incredible place is just an hour from Boise, Idaho? The temperature soared to a scorching 98 degrees, leaving us delightfully sunburnt, but oh, what an adventure! And let me tell you, the Jack’s Creek campground in the lower arm of the reservoir was an absolute gem. The fishing was out of this world, and the water was delightfully shallow, perfect for swimming, floating, and even fishing while wading in the water!

FISHING

What a thrilling adventure we had with our fishing expedition! Every cast held the promise of a surprise, and we certainly weren’t disappointed. Among our prized catches were the feisty bullhead catfish, sleek Smallmouth Bass, elusive Black Crappie, and plucky perch, all nabbed using nothing but our trusty worms. And let’s not forget the exhilaration of reeling in Bass and Crappie in abundance with a black rooster tail. The icing on the cake was the heart-pounding moment when a mysterious behemoth snapped our 30lb braided test line and vanished into the depths. Although it left us yearning for more, the sheer variety of fish we encountered made the whole experience unforgettable. But nothing quite compares to the sheer thrill of hooking a bass and witnessing their majestic leap out of the water – truly a gratifying sight to behold!

SWIMMING

All I can say is, gear up with some sturdy water shoes because you’re in for an adventure! Imagine navigating through a mix of loose gravel and slippery big rocks, all while the water beckons you with its perfect temperature. You can venture quite far out, only to encounter a thrilling drop into the unknown muck, and there’s plenty of room for kids to frolic and float around. As if that wasn’t enough, get ready for some thrilling wakes created by the bigger boats further up in the reservoir, adding just the right amount of excitement to your escapade.

CAMPING

Camping at this spot is an absolute breeze with ready-to-use fire pits at the camp spots. You’ll be thrilled to find hidden gems right by the water, offering unparalleled access. It’s a first-come, first-served free-for-all, so gear up for an early start to secure the perfect spot in this intimate campground. The large, well-maintained porta-potty-style toilets are a pleasant surprise, considering the rugged surroundings. Get ready for an off-the-grid adventure with no running water or electricity hookups – this is the real deal!
